Assynt has always been a very popular area for all types of Angler. There are literally hundreds of fresh water lochs withan abundanceof wild brown trout.  These lochs feed the two main rivers in Assynt; the Kirkaig and the Inver. These amazing spectacular spate rivers flow westward to the sea and are fished for salmon and sea trout.

Sea Anglers have been coming to Lochinver and Kylesku for many years to sample the offshore fishing round our coast which has been considered as some of the best available in Britain.

Salmon fishing on the Rivers Upper and Lower Inver and Kirkaig is owned by the Inver Lodge Hotel in Lochinver

The permits for Brown trout fishing cost £5 per person per day, or £25 per week. They can be obtained from many local businesses including the Lochinver Post Office, Achin's Bookshop and the Assynt Visitor Centre. Boats are available on many lochs, for £10 (up to three people per boat), and £8-10 for hire of an engine.

The brown trout fishing season runs from March 15th to October 7th.
